[Chemical composition]
For pipes,with governing Nominal thickness ＞ 5.08 mm[0.2 in.],for which no toughness properties are available,requirements of either option A) OR B) apply for pipe with governing nominal thickness ＞ 5.08 mm[0.2 in.]:
Option A) All of the following requirements:
- the manganses to carbon ratio shall be 5 or higher;
-micro-alloying elements shall be limited to the following;

Option B) All of the following requirements:
-AI ≥0.02% and (AI+TI) ＞3N(if N is reported in materials certificate;
-(AI+TI) ≥ 0.03% (if N is not reported in the materials cerficate;
-C≥0.15%;
-MN≥0.60%;
[Impact testing]
In case the chemical reqyirements as specified above are not met,impact testing is required for pipe with goveeming nominal thickness ＞ 5.08 mm[0.20 inch] in accordance with the following:
-Charpy impact tests shall be carried out in accordance with ASTM A370 at a temperature of -29 ℃[-20 F] with CVN ≥ 27J (full-size specimens);
-impact testing may be performed at a temperature warmer than -29 ℃[-20 F],using full-size specimen with energy value requirements at temperatures as per table-1 in addendum;
-a set of three transverse charpy test pieces shall be taken from the base material from one pipe representing each heat.Test pipeces shall be located at the mid thickness;
-the notch of all charpy pieces shall be perpendicular to the pipe surface;
-sub-size samples can only be applied,if standard 10 mm* 10 mm(0.39 in*0.39 in) samples are not possible.
The acceptance criteria for sub-size samples shall be in accordance with Table 2 in the addendum to this document.
